Vanessa Butterfly

I have loved butterflies and portraying them in my art for many years now. I never tire of celebrating their beauty and delicate nature. I have a dedicated board in Pinterest if you would like to take a peek! Their beauty never ceases to excite and inspire me! So when I was asked to create another butterfly inspired art doll I was a happy lady!

Butterflies are deep and powerful representations of life. To many people around the world the butterfly represents endurance, change, hope, resurrection, transformation and life itself. There is no doubt that the butterfly can have a significant and deep meaning to us. But the butterfly also reminds us to appreciate and celebrate the simple joys in life, like sitting down quietly to read a book, with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.

Why did I name her Vanessa? Well, Vanessa is a traditionally feminine name with all sorts of mythological roots. In Greek it is a reference to the mystic goddess, Phanessa, who was Pandora’s daughter and who had a fascination for butterflies!
