Boys Boys Boys

I guess it was simply a matter of time before my doll creating process started to include boys. I must admit, it had been in my creative thoughts for a while, but it wasn’t until my art doll exhibition when people actually started asking for boys that I knew I had to accept the challenge and give it a go.

I knew I wanted them to be in the same style as the girls, so I put my thinking cap on and jotted down what changes I would need to make. First and foremost that body had to change! So arms apart and hello legs. Face features? Well, let’s try some side burns, change the mouth and eyes and eyebrows. Baseball cap anyone? And maybe a little less sparkle, but a whole lot more cheekiness! And voila, a boy!

I was quite happy with my first attempt. So with my confidence intact I started making another one.

This time I knew I wanted to make a basketball player for the little boy of a special friend. I really enjoyed researching the outfit and adding little details. The most difficult part was the hair because I did’t want to give this little guy a cap. And here is Pani!

And then some football fans! I was actually quite surprised to find that I loved making them. I really enjoy watching football and it was fun to research home and away kits for the two teams, Apoel and Tottenham, and come up with my own “fan kit”.

I am so happy that I have now added boys to the repertoire of SO SOPHIE mixed media art dolls! Looking forward to making more and excited to see what other ideas I’ll come up with now that boys are on the scene!
